Luxury retail store

VR Digital Twin Store Demo

For a luxury fashion brand, we built a VR demo of one of its stores: a two-storey digital twin in Unity HDRP where visitors walk both floors, pick out products by gaze or hand gesture to see them in 3D with colours and prices, and ask an AI assistant for help.

The challenge

A luxury fashion brand wanted to explore bringing one of its retail stores into the metaverse. We built a demo for it: a digital twin that keeps the elegance of the real shop while letting visitors browse and interact in VR.

Luxury retail depends on detail and atmosphere. Garments, leather goods and accessories had to look lifelike at close range, and the lighting – warm spotlights on the displays, light through the mezzanine, reflections off marble – had to convince, all within the strict performance budget of real-time VR.

Our approach

We started with the products. Polygon reduction and texture compression kept every model, from woven fabrics and leather goods to jewellery and shoes, light enough to render in real time without losing detail up close.

For lighting we used Unity's High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP), combining baked and real-time lightmaps with physically based materials and careful light probe placement, so fabric, leather, marble and metal read convincingly in the headset.

The results

The demo recreates both floors of the store, and visitors move freely between them past clothing rails, accessory displays and product showcases. Selecting an item by gaze or hand gesture opens a 3D preview with its description, composition, colour options and price, and an add-to-cart button.

An AI-driven virtual assistant accompanies visitors through the store, answering questions and recommending products based on what they browse. The whole experience was built as a demo and proof of concept for the brand, not as a launched store.
