Owee

Kids Learning Quiz App

Owee is our own product: an educational quiz app for children aged 5–10, guided by a friendly owl. We designed, built and run the whole stack in-house – the Unity app, the content platform behind it, and the cloud infrastructure it runs on.

The Knowledge Base treehouse growing with each upgrade (in-app animations)

The challenge

Most educational apps drill facts and move on. We wanted a product that teaches: every question opens with a fascinating fact, an image or a short video, and every answer comes with a clear explanation.

That meant a large and growing library of rich-media questions, difficulty that adapts from age five to ten, and progress children can actually see – all inside an app parents can trust, with no adverts and no chat.

Our approach

The app is built in Unity and ships to iPad, iPhone and Android from one codebase. Progress is made visible through the Knowledge Base, a treehouse children build themselves, with 230 upgrades across 15 tiers, each arriving with its own animation.

Behind the app sits a Python (FastAPI) backend on AWS and a Next.js admin platform where the team authors questions, manages subjects and media, and runs campaigns. Content is delivered through S3 and CloudFront, and infrastructure is managed as code with Terraform.

The results

Owee is live on the App Store and Google Play, with regular releases adding new subjects, collectible Curiosity Cards and features for parents.

Running our own product end to end – from the build pipeline to app store optimisation and paid acquisition – feeds directly back into how we build and launch apps for clients.
